Bitvise has two components:

  • A SSH client that gives you terminal (command line / shell prompt) access to servers
  • A SFTP client that gives you file transfer access to servers

Using Bitvise

  • Download and install the program
  • Launch the program
  • For Host enter bobby.cs.unlv.edu
  • For Username enter your username
  • At any time after entering the host and username you can save your profile or login
  • Upon logging the first time in you may get a notification about the Host Key Verification -- accept and save
  • When logging in you will have to enter your password
  • Bitvise will, by default, launch a terminal window and a file transfer window -- you may close either one or both, and can relaunch either from the main Bitvise screen (see New terminal console or New SFTP window)
  • You may also open multiple terminal windows by clicking New terminal console in the main Bitvise screen
