Secure Shell Client

This program has not been updated to work with the latest SSH protocols. Please do not use this SSH client.

The SSH Secure Shell Client program has two components:

  • A SSH client that gives you terminal (command line / shell prompt) access to servers
  • A SFTP client that gives you file transfer access to servers

Click here to download SSH Secure Shell Client 3.2.9 for Windows. It is a free non-commercial use program.

Terminal access

  1. Open the SSH client by going to Start -> Program -> Secure Shell Client
  2. Once the program is open hit spacebar or Enter
  3. A window will appear asking for hostname and username
    • For hostname enter one of the servers above (e.g. bobby.cs.unlv.edu)
    • For username enter your login name
  4. An authentication warning may appear that looks like this:
The authenticity of hosts 'bobby.cs.unlv.edu (131.216.23.6)' can't be established. RSA key fingerprint is 
xodif-lolyn-bohuh-foleg-cokec-boged-hihaf-helam-mosim-feros-pyxix 
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?
  1. Select yes

File transfer access

  1. Open the SFTP client by going to Start -> Program -> Secure File Transfer Client
  2. Once the program is open hit spacebar or Enter
  3. A window will appear asking for hostname and username
    • For hostname enter one of the servers above (e.g. bobby.cs.unlv.edu)
    • For username enter your login name
  4. An authentication warning may appear that looks like this:
