Secure Shell is an app that enables terminal access within the Chrome web browser, making it a viable solution for any computer that has Chrome installed, including Chromebooks.

Installation

In the Chrome browser, visit this page to add the app to Chrome. Once installed, you can launch it.

Using Secure Shell

  • After launching, a box pops up asking for connection information
  • Type username@bobby.cs.unlv.edu in the field that says username@hostname or free form text, making sure to use your specific username
  • Click [Enter] Connect
  • You may receive a security warning -- accept it and continue
  • Enter your password

When using Secure Shell again on the same computer, or if your Chrome sessions are synced with your Google account, you will be able to just double click on the saved session from before, as opposed to entering in new connection details as above.
